Can You Repair Parquet Flooring Where Replacement of Some Parquet Blocks is Needed?

    Hello,

My parquet flooring is in a need of restoration, but a fair bit of the area would also need repair as some of the parquet blocks are badly damaged. I have sourced some reclaimed parquet blocks, which look similar to my flooring, but they have black bitumen so I am not sure if they can be re-used?

    • Mr Sanders

Hi and thank you for contacting us regarding parquet floor restoration and repair.

Repair of parquet flooring where replacement of parquet blocks is needed is something that we do regularly. In such cases we always try to source reclaimed or new parquet blocks which match the size of the existing flooring. If the parquet blocks that you have sourced have bitumen residue, however, we would not recommend their use simply because removing the bitumen is a very difficult and time consuming thing to do, which makes the whole process of parquet floor restoration very expensive. Therefore, we would advise you to use new parquet flooring instead or to contact a professional parquet floor restoration company like FloorWorks to do this for you.

Can You Restore My Pine Floorboards?

I have pine floorboards in my house, which are currently hidden under carpets. I am planning to lift the carpets and restore my floorboards, but I am afraid that some boards might be damaged and might need to be replaced. Is this something that can be done during the floorboards restoration service?

    • Mr Sanders

Hi and thank you for your question regarding floorboards restoration and repair.

Restoration of pine floorboards almost always involves repairs, where before the floor sanding process, we always secure any loose floorboards and where boards are damaged we replace them with reclaimed floorboards. The important thing here is to note that pine tends to change its colour in time so we always try to source reclaimed floorboards which not only match the size of your flooring, but also its colour. Once all floor repairs are done, the floors will be sanded to a smooth finish and then sealed with several (at least 3) coats of hardwearing varnish. We always recommend the use of varnish inslead of hardwax oils on pine wood as it is a soft wood and oils tend to penetrate the timber leaving a less durable sealant on top.

      I hope that this helps.

Can I Install Underfloor Heating Under Engineered Flooring?

I am planning to install engineered wood flooring in my house, but I am also considering to put underfloor heating. Are the two compatable and is this possible at all?

    • Mr Sanders

      Yes,

Underfloor heating is ideally installed under engineered wood flooring with a click installation system. This allows for the floating installation of the engineered floorboards, without the need of gluing down or nailing down. Engineered floors have been specifically designed to withstand temperature and colour variations and are therefore perfect choice for homes with underfloor heating.

Can You Replace Fireplace Heart To Extend My Parquet Flooring?

My parquet flooring needs sanding and varnishing, but in one of the rooms I have a fireplace which I want to remove and replace with similar parquet blocks. Can this be done?

    • Mr Sanders

Hi and thank you for your question regarding parquet flooring restoration and fireplace heart removal.

Fireplace removal and parquet floor extension with matching parquet blocks is definitely something we can help with. Once the fireplace heart is removed, we will restitch the parquet flooring and once sanded  and revarnish the floors will be left with an uniform appearance as if the fireplace had never been there before.
