• Can staining be done on wooden stairs?

  Yes, staining can be performed on any wooden flooring including stairs. Once the area is sanded to a smooth finish we can apply several samples of different colours on your stairs so you can choose the colour that best matches teh rest of your flooring.

• Whitewashed finish on wooden floors and how to achieve it?

  Hi and thank you for your question regaring whitewashed effect on wooden flooring.

  Achieving whitewashed / nordic finish on engineered oak flooring during floor restoration service with the use of either stains, lacquers or by using precoloured oil-based products. You need to be aware that there will be a slight difference in the appearance of the whitewashed effect depending on whether it has been achieved by lacquer or oil.

  If you decide to seal your floors with lacquer, whitewashed effect can be done in two ways. You can either use white pigmented primer like Bona White, or you can first apply white stain on the sanded floors and then coat it with multiple coats of clear lacquer. For our wood floor restoration service where staining is involved, we rely on some of the most popular products such as Bona Create Ice, followed by the application of three coats of waterbased Bona Mega lacquer in either matt, satin or gloss finish.

  If you prefer to achieve the whitewashed effect using oil-based products, then you need to be aware that this will achieve less uniform appearance.

• Can you repair parquet flooring if blocks are missing?

  Hi and thank you for contacting us regarding parquet floor restoration and repair.

  We regularly restore and repair parquet flooring where blocks are missing or damaged. In such cases we always try to source reclaimed or new parquet blocks which match the size of the existing flooring. If the parquet blocks that you have sourced have bitumen residue, however, we would not recommend their use simply because removing the bitumen is a very difficult and time consuming thing to do, which makes the whole process of parquet floor restoration very expensive. Therefore, we would advise you to use new parquet flooring instead or to contact a professional parquet floor restoration company like Floorworks to do this for you.

• Do you provide help with furniture?

  Yes, our team is available to help move larger pieces of furniture out of the areas.

  If the furniture cannot be fully removed, we can complete the work in stages.

  Completing the restoration works in stages will normally add an extra day, in some cases more days and a surcharge will apply due to the extra time required.

  We strive to make the process as seamless as possible while ensuring minimal disruption to your home.

• Do you offer a Service Guarantee and what does it cover?

• How many coats of lacquer are included in your service?

  For domestic floor sanding services, we apply 1 coat of primer followed by 2 coats of lacquer. You can choose from the available sheen options, which are extra-matt, matt, satin, and gloss.

  For floor sanding in public spaces (offices, schools, church halls), we use 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of high quality commercial-grade lacquer. Sheen options available are extra-matt, matt, and satin.

  Extra coats are available upon request, but we do not recommend more than 5 coats, including primer.
